How to measure an Outseam – Monks of Method

HTM Outseam

What you will need

  • A good fitting mide-rise jeans
  • A measuring tape

1/ Find a good fitting mide-rise jeans

Find a good fitting shirt

The ideal length for jeans depends on how you plan on styling it. If you'd like to cuff your jeans, you want something that comes down to the balls of your feet so you can roll it into a cuff. If you wear your jeans uncuffed, a good length is until the top of your ankle. The outseam is measured from the top of the waistband down to the bottom of the jeans.

2/ Lay the jeans on a flat surface

To start measuring, lay your jeans down on a flat surface.

3/ Measure it from the end of the waistband to the bottom hem

Hold the end of your tape measure at the end of the waistband and run it down along the outer seam down to the bottom hem.

Things to consider

    • Make sure the jeans is flat and fully extended to get a good reading.
    • Do not add anything extra for the shrinkage, we will do that for you.
