There are jeans you wear, and there are jeans you commit to. This is the second kind. A 21 oz Japanese selvedge, cut into the same clean five-pocket silhouette as our Classic Ontaké. But the fabric changes everything. Where the midweight denim breaks in over months, the 21 oz takes a season. It may not flatter you immediately. It may not move quietly. It will stand up on its own when you take it off. The kind of jeans that get talked about in forums and inherited by the next generation.
Wear them often. Wash them rarely, and never in the first six months unless you have to. Cuff them. The selvedge ID at the outseam is the whole point. A white tee and white sneakers keeps it simple. Boots and a chambray shirt is the natural register. In a year, the jeans will look like nothing else you own. In five, they will be the most personal garment in your wardrobe. Stretch jeans cannot do this. Only heavy selvedge can.
